Dear Paddler
We would like to wish all of our HPPCC members a very happy new year and hope that Santa brought lots of paddling goodies.
It is still a very uncertain paddling situation at present and we have reluctantly taken the decision not to organise a new year paddle this year.
Managing trip logistics, car parking, no shuttles, not spending considerable amounts of time with others, and high rainfall forecast has made trying to find an appropriate trip very difficult.
Your touring team are looking at trips that we will be able to do but at present with so many people being hit with covid they have taken the decision to pause the trips.
However, our recreational club sessions will still take place on a Saturday morning and Rafting and Slalom sessions will take place as planned.
Please do not attend sessions if you think that there is a possibility that you may have covid, even though the sessions are outdoors.
Pool sessions will go ahead as planned at present but we would ask anyone attending to take a lateral flow test on the day if possible to try and keep everyone safe. It is an environment where you end up working in very close proximity to other people.
This Saturday we are offering a social river paddle and a coached session. The Saturday river paddle will have two groups, one will be going for a power paddle up the river to blast away some Christmas calories and the other group will be taking a more gentle meander up the river.
The next block of Pool sessions will be released at 8pm on Monday the 10th of January. Please only book the paddler sessions – not the COACHES session. The COACHES sessions are for coaches to express their availability to coach at the session. I have refunded about 8 people who have booked the coaches slots who want to come and practice their rolling.
I know that it is frustrating that there are far more paddlers wanting slots than spaces, but unfortunately we are still limited to the numbers that can be accommodated in the pool under their covid requirements.
Take care and stay safe
Kind regards
Dawn Scott Chair of Trustees
