The club welcomes all new members and offers a chance to take out Temporary membership before joining as a Full Club member.

Temporary membership costs just £3.00 for four sessions, in addition to the £5.00 club session fee. (So your first session will be £8.00 per person, the second, third & fourth sessions just £5.00 per person, then you need to take out full club membership.) With your own equipment the cost per session is just £3.00 on a Saturday once you are a member.

This is the place to start if you want to come paddling…

If you are new to the sport, haven’t done any paddling for years, want to gain some personal paddling awards or just want to get going again, then please come to one of our Saturday Sessions between Easter and November. Outside of these times, it gets just a little too chilly and we would hate to put you off! Ideally, please bring your whole family! It’s great fun!

The Saturday Sessions run from 9.30 am to 12 noon every Saturday throughout the year, except Bank Holiday Weekends.

The club is running a number activities, including some open sessions. However, we are not able to accept cash and numbers need to be limited to those allowed by the current government advice. Therefore, to prevent disappointment we are asking you to pre-book online only. Please choose to pay online when booking too.

For more details on club sessions please visit the Club Sessions page.

A Gentle Start

Don’t worry, we won’t send you down the White Water Course! Our session is mainly based on Winfield Pool. This is the small sheltered lake near to White Water Control, at the top of the White Water Course.

What to Wear

You need to ensure that you are dressed for the weather and water conditions. The water can be cold at any time of the year and it is very easy to get chilled and quickly miserable once you are damp or wet. We like to see happy paddlers!

Please dress in warm, light, layered clothing (not cotton as this is very cold when wet!) with a light windproof jacket if it is breezy. Jeans are not recommended as they are cotton and will be uncomfortable when wet. Wear some old trainers that you don’t mind getting wet, as footwear must be worn at all times, and bring a dry change of clothes and your shower kit.

  • Wet suits can be worn if you have them but they are not essential.
  • Showers are available in the changing rooms.

From October to March we ask parents to be available at short notice as if a child gets wet or cold we will take them off the water and the coach cannot always be available to look after them whilst they get changed and until the end of the session.
