An update from HPPCC

Dear Paddler
I hope that you have been keeping well and enjoying the really fine weather that we have been having.
Have you seen the Canoeing from the Olympics – such a pity that we missed out on a medal by one place. There is much more canoeing to come with the Women’s Kayak, Men’s Kayak and Women’s Canoe events, plus all of the Canoe Sprint events.
Following on from our first two successful litter picks our next one is this Sunday again at 10am from the club. Bookings are open through Eola via the club website, and remember if you are a club member you don’t need to pay. You can use whatever craft you are confident in, and SUPs and Rafts are available as well. This is a great opportunity to support the environment where we paddle and to do our bit for water quality and conservation.
You can also now book for the Litter picks right through to December.
Following the success of our Open Stand up Paddle Board sessions on a Thursday night, we are opening up for Open Kayak and Canoe paddling. The sessions run from 6pm to 7.15pm and cost £5 if you are borrowing equipment and £3 if you have your own kit.
A couple of things about these sessions – you need to be a full club member to attend them, not a temporary member and you must have paddled at least 4 times.
The sessions are un-coached, but there will be a coach available for advice if needed. These sessions are designed to allow you to put into practice the skills that you have been learning on the Saturday sessions and get practicing yourself. This is why they are not suitable for beginners.
Bookings for these sessions are now available on the club webpage.
When you arrive for these sessions please ensure that you book in with the coach so that they know who is on the water.
Saturday sessions now may have slightly restricted availability for a few weeks now as all of the coaches head off on their holidays, but they will be posted as soon as possible with as many places as we can safely support.
Also look out soon for some sessions on a Sunday as well to support paddlers.
We look forward to seeing you shortly.
Kind regards Dawn Scott Chair of Trustees.
