Club update and news

Dear Paddler
I am delighted to let you know that the changing rooms at HPPCC have reopened this week and paddlers may now have a shower after their session.
However, please ensure that you follow all rules in place to maintain covid security and to keep safe.
The club trustees have taken the decision to sell the exceedingly large trailer in the compound and replace it with custom built boat racking. If you would like to purchase the trailer or know anyone that would then please ask them to check on eBay as the trailer will be listed there this week. The trailer is very heavy and needs a large vehicle to tow it, all of the electrics have been checked and are in working order.
Unfortunately due to a diary clash the litter picking event on the 7th of November has had to be postponed. The December event will be moved to a nearby canal to ensure that these activities can take place right throughout the winter.
As the temperature starts dropping now please start thinking about digging out the winter woolies and your winter paddling gear. Slalom paddlers should follow the instructions of their coaches as to what is the appropriate level of clothing. Recreation paddlers, please now ensure that you have a wind or waterproof jacket outer layer on when paddling to ensure that you are protected from the elements. A warm hat and gloves may also come in handy.
Details of our next trip are:
River Trent – From Gunthorpe to lock and back. Distance 4 miles each way so 8 miles or 12 Km. We have decided to do this as an out and back trip due to the rising Covid infection rates so that we avoid car sharing.
This trip will be on Sunday the 31st of October. Please note that the trip is with the flow for the first half of the trip, and then coming back against the flow for the second half. We estimate 4 – 4.5 hours depending on flow.
Bookings are limited to 12 paddlers due to car parking and logistical issues. Please sign up through the booking portal on the website as normal for the trip.
Club kit is available for those who need to borrow equipment or for those wanting to try out different crafts.
All of the pool block sessions have been booked and there is a waiting list in case anyone drops out. Pool sessions for January will be released in December.
We look forward to seeing you out and about.
Kind regards Dawn
