Club updates March 2022

Dear Paddler

Welcome to your march update from the club, we have several opportunities available.

Firstly a reminder that our litter picks resume this Sunday, please sign up if you are able to do your bit for the environment.  Canoes, Kayaks and SUPS welcome on this litter pick.  There won’t be a raft available as the canal is particularly narrow.

Youth Raft Racing introduction on 13th March – this session can now be booked online through our portal.

First aid course for coaches – due to our WW coaches and leaders needing a course before the end of March we are arranging a 12 hour Activity First aid course which will have 2 evening sessions (Thursday and Friday) on Zoom and then Sunday the 13th of March as the practical day.  If you coach at the club and need to renew your first aid certificate then you can attend this course free of charge, please contact Dawn on chair@hppcc.co.uk for more details immediately.

Can you spare an hour or so?
On Saturday the 12th of March we are having a compound clear out session, removing a lot of rubbish that has built up over 2 years of the lockdowns.  The clear out will start at 12.30 and run for about an hour and a half, depending on how many people turn up.  Please bring a pair of gloves and we can provide litter pickers and rubbish sacks.  Once the clean up has been done, then we will be in a position at the end of the month to undertake the annual club audit of all club equipment.

f you have borrowed club equipment and are now in a position to return this please do so by the end of the month.  If you can’t return it yet, please speak to your coach to make sure it is logged out to you.

Pool sessions
These have been incredibly popular this year and we know that not everyone has been able to get to as many sessions as they would have wanted to.
The final release of pool slots will be on Tuesday the 8th of March at 19.00 – an hour earlier than usual.

As the warmer weather starts hopefully heading our way, trips will be advertised and improver booked sessions will start to be launched.

The Wye Weekend is confirmed as the 10-12th of June.  Please book directly with the campsite https://www.lucksallpark.co.uk and then use the booking form on the portal to let us know you are attending and reserve any kit that you need.  The campsite is very popular so please book early, and your booking is directly with the campsite and subject to their terms and conditions.  Please let them know that you are coming as part of the canoe club, so that they can put you on the right part of the site with the rest of us.

Trevor’s trip to the Lake District on the 13th – 15th of May is going ahead with several club members attending, if you want to attend this trip please contact Trevor on Recreation@hppcc.co.uk

We hope to see you soon out on the water, or at our litter picks or compound clearance event.

Kind regards

Dawn Scott
