Important information – various HPPCC Matters

Good morning Paddler

In light of the considerable rainfall over the last few days and the weather warning that is in place for Nottingham for tomorrow, there will be no Saturday paddling session this week.  The course is already at 2.7 metres and due to rise substantially, wind speeds are silly, and the water quality will be appalling.

Therefore all sessions at HPP are cancelled for the morning.  The pool sessions are of course unaffected.

Speaking of pool sessions, the next block of pool sessions will be released at 6pm on Monday the 23rd of October, this will be the block for November and December.

In conjunction with the Canals and Rivers Trust we have organised another Pennywort Clearance morning.  This is vital work ensuring that the local canals and rivers remain free of this invasive species.

This will be on Saturday the 25th of November, meeting at Beeston at 9.30 for a 10am start.  You can let us know that you are coming by using eola, please make sure you add the members discount as there is no charge for this session.

We will be off the water by 1pm, and there is a cafe near by for drinks.

We will be offering Rafts and SUPs for this activity so all standards of paddlers are welcome, including family members.  Please let us know if you need a buoyancy aid bringing for you.  The morning involves a short paddle up the canal, to where the pennywort is growing and we then hack at it with paddles breaking it way from the bank, we drag it across to the tow path where the volunteers from the Canal and Rivers Trust get it up onto the towpath and use it as compost in the hedgerows.

This is vital work that the club does for local wildlife and the environment so please do book and support us.  There will be no social river paddle or coached flatwater session on this day.

Finally a save the date invitation.

You are invited to join us for our club end of season party which will be held this year on Saturday 2nd December  in the Regatta View room at the National Watersports Centre Lakeside building.

So please save the date to for an enjoyable evening with your fellow paddlers.  Doors open at 7 pm, buffet meal at 7.30 pm followed by a quiz, party games and disco to dance away the evening to 11 pm.

Its a great opportunity for paddlers from across all sections of the club to  get togerther to celebrate a great year on the water. We would especially love to see our younger paddlers and their parents join us and of course non paddling partners or children aremost welcome.

Ticket prices to be confirmed shortly and will be advertised for booking on the club website. We look forward to you joining us for an enjoyable and fun evening to celebrate the end of another great year of paddling.

Kind regards
Dawn
