Well you know winter is on the way when we start advertising our pool sessions.
The club is again offering recreational learn to roll sessions at the Ken Martin Pool at Bulwell on a Saturday afternoon, and Freestyle sessions at Clifton Pool on a Wednesday evening.
There are some key differences between the sessions
Ken Martin Pool Saturdays – designed for all levels of paddlers who want to become more water confident, practice rescues, or learn to roll. Boats and paddles provided at the pool. Own boats not permitted.
Clifton Pool Wednesdays – for freestyle paddlers to practice their moves and skills. You need to bring your own, fully cleaned boat to the pool each week. Rolling coaching is not provided so ideally you will have already learnt this skill.
FREESTYLE Sessions

This is open to club members that are into play boating. It is not a learning to roll session as there will only be one club instructor at the pool.
Due to oversubscribing last year the booking will be altered as a trial for the first block of 5 weeks.
There will be 16 places with 12 boats in the water. 8 for adults and 8 for juniors (who will boat share). Over previous years juniors have not tended to stay in their boats for the whole session. For the trial the booking on the website will be split adult and junior, with the idea juniors share boats.
To make life easier for the first 5 weeks there will only be block bookings and no weekly slots.
If this works we will stick with it, if not, we won’t.
Prices
Adult: £35 for five weeks of sessions
Junior: £30 for five weeks of sessions
Once you have booked Andrew will send out the usual email explaining more details and will put up a video showing how to clean a boat on the Facebook groups. Remember dirty boats will be turned away.
Sessions will be posted on the club booking portal on Monday evening the 30th of September.

Saturdays 1545 – 1715
Block 1 Sat 12 Oct to 9 Nov
Block 2 Sat 16 Nov to 14 Dec
Weekly sessions available after Christmas
Blocked booked sessions before Christmas £40 for 5 weeks
Single sessions after Christmas £7.50 per session.
Please note that these sessions are shared with Notts Kayak Club, who also help with the coaching of these sessions, and therefore can fill up quickly. Sessions will go live on the booking portal at 7pm on Monday the 30th of September.
Please notify the club if you have booked the session for a junior under the age of 8 years old, as swimming pools require a different ratio for under 8s and parents may need to support their child.
