Saturday Session 25th January and Lake District trip.

Good morning Paddler,
I’m writing to let you know that unfortunately, I’ve had to cancel tomorrow’s session. We only have two people signed up, and it’s not effective to run a session with such a small group.
But don’t worry, the river trip is still on! Just make sure you’re confident on the river and dressed for the weather.  There will be access to the compound for those needing to borrow boats.
We had a really successful first trip of the year last weekend on the Ashby canal, once all of the ice had melted, and we plan for one trip every month.
February’s trip will be on the Trent and Mersey Canal and River Trent, and March’s trip on the River Soar.
For May we are offering a trip to the Lake District on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of May.
Trevor Tarlton-Weatherall is organising this trip and the details are below.

The plan is to paddle Coniston Water on the Saturday and possible the bottom end of Windermere on the Sunday depending on weather and any other preferences or options on the day.

There are a number of options for accommodation ranging from 4* hotels to pubs and lodges in the Coniston area. There is a nearby campsite ‘Coniston Hall campsite’ just below the village which starts taking bookings from February. There is also a Caravan Club site nearby ‘Coniston Park Coppice site’, which is situated just outside the village. If you would like to come along, I would suggest booking  accommodation sooner rather than later as things book up quickly in the lakes.

To help you plan accommodation. The plan will be to meet at the carpark (pay & display)/ landing stage in Coniston village which is situated next to the National trust Steam Yacht pier.

Bookings for this trip are now available on Eola through the club portal, and also feel free to contact Trevor tarltonweatherall@outlook.com for any other information. Also, as Trevor does not do any social media feel free to pass the information to other paddlers who may be interested and get them to contact him. Paddlers need to be capable of paddling to Trent Bridge and back with reasonable confidence to be able to do this trip. If anyone is in doubt about whether they could manage the trip contact Trevor and he will arrange to paddle with them if required on the Trent to give them some guidance.

Please book through Eola here https://widget.eola.co/1027/activities/lake-district-trip-17-18-may

Or through the club website booking portal.

If you have let Trevor know already that you are going please book on Eola so that we have a full group list.

Kind regards

Ian Scott
